The Wrathmongers are one of the most iconic and terrifying units within the Khorne Bloodbound contingent of the Blades of Khorne. They perfectly embody the self-destructive, contagious rage of the Blood God.

Lore & Background:

• Wrathmongers are Bloodbound warriors who have been so completely consumed by Khorne's fury that they are almost beyond mortal comprehension. They are walking conduits of raw, uncontrolled violence.
• Their minds are shattered, their bodies twisted by the sheer intensity of their bloodlust. They are driven by an insatiable need to inflict and experience pain, constantly seeking the most violent deaths for themselves and their enemies.
• The unique curse of the Wrathmonger is that their rage is infectious. The sheer intensity of their fury emanates from them, driving other Khornate warriors nearby into an even greater frenzy.

Appearance & Equipment:

• Visually, Wrathmongers are striking. They are often depicted as muscle-bound, almost naked figures, their skin covered in scars, brands, and the grime of countless battles.
• They typically carry multiple bladed weapons – axes, cleavers, sword-sized hooks – often chained to their bodies, indicating that they are beyond reason and simply lash out with anything they can get their hands on.
• They wear minimal armor, almost as if they revel in the wounds they take, viewing each blow as a testament to their devotion to Khorne. Skulls and blood-soaked rags are common adornments.

Role on the Battlefield (Age of Sigmar): Wrathmongers are primarily a melee shock unit that also provides powerful buffs to friendly units.

• Rage Incarnate (Aura Ability): This is their signature ability. Any friendly Khorne Bloodbound unit wholly within a certain range (e.g., 8" in current rules) of a Wrathmongers unit can fight again at the end of that phase if they fought that turn. This is an incredibly potent buff, effectively doubling the damage output of a key unit. Imagine a unit of Bloodreavers or Skullreapers fighting twice!
• Devastating Melee: Don't let their support ability fool you; Wrathmongers are excellent fighters themselves. Each Wrathmonger comes with a profile for their multiple weapons, allowing them to dish out a good number of attacks, often with good rend, reflecting their sheer ferocity.
• Berserk Rage (Self-Sacrifice): When a Wrathmonger model is slain, their pent-up rage can explode outwards, inflicting mortal wounds on nearby enemy units. This makes them dangerous even in death, punishing opponents for killing them.

Strategic Use:

• Bodyguards for Heavy Hitters: Use Wrathmongers to escort and empower your most dangerous Bloodbound units (like Skullreapers, or even a Bloodstoker-buffed unit) to ensure they get to attack twice, obliterating enemy units.
• Objective Holders/Threats: While primarily a support piece, their own combat profile makes them a credible threat for holding objectives or simply tearing through smaller enemy units.
• Psychological Impact: Opponents have to think twice about engaging units near Wrathmongers, knowing they might suffer double the attacks.
