The Jakals are the human face of the World Eaters' brutal crusades, the screaming masses that flood battlefields ahead of their Space Marine masters, eager to die gloriously in a torrent of blood.

• Mortal Zealots: These are not Space Marines, but zealous, brutalized humans who have given themselves utterly to the worship of Khorne. They are the frontline fodder, the screaming masses that surge ahead of the true World Eaters, destined for a glorious (and swift) death in the name of the Blood God.
• Distinct from Generic Cultists: While still cultists, Jakals are more intensely focused on Khorne. Their training, if it can be called that, is pure indoctrination into the cult of bloodshed. They often operate with a degree of ferocity and single-mindedness that even other Chaos Cultists might find alarming.
• Under the Shadow of the Nails: While they do not bear the Butcher's Nails themselves, Jakals live under the oppressive and intoxicating influence of the implants' raw, uncontrolled rage that radiates from their Astartes masters. This constant exposure drives them to emulate that berserk fury, even if they lack the superhuman physiology to truly match it.

Jakals are drawn from worlds ravaged by the World Eaters or from planets where the cult of Khorne holds absolute sway. They are inducted into the warband not through subtle corruption, but through overt acts of violence, ritualistic combat, and a savage commitment to bloodshed. Their existence is brutal, short, and defined by constant warfare and the desperate pursuit of Khorne's favour.

Clad in scavenged armour plates, crude chainmail, and blood-stained rags, Jakals are a grim sight. Their wargear is typically simple but brutally effective for close quarters:

• Brutal Assault Weapons: Most wield some form of close-combat weapon – rusty chainblades, cleavers, axes (often miniature versions of their masters' chainaxes), and brutal fighting knives. Their preference is always for hand-to-hand slaughter.
• Slab Shields: Some may carry crude, metal-bound "slab shields" for a modicum of protection, often adorned with spikes or Khornate symbols.
• Chaos Icon: A dedicated Jakal will often carry a grotesque icon of Khorne, a banner of skulls and blood, further inspiring the horde to acts of desperate courage.

Jakals are consumed by a primal bloodlust. They emulate the World Eaters, screaming threats and Khornate litanies as they charge. For a Jakal, there is no greater honour than to die in a torrent of blood, proving their worth to Khorne and their Astartes masters. They are effectively human berserkers, driven by faith and the intoxicating presence of their Space Marine overlords. Their lives are cheap, but their deaths are fuel for the Blood God.

In a World Eaters army, Jakals serve several vital functions:

• Meat Shield/Screen: Their primary role is to soak up enemy fire and tie up enemy units, allowing the more valuable Chaos Space Marines, Eightbound, and Daemon Engines to close the distance unimpeded.
• Swarm Tactics: Their sheer numbers can overwhelm weaker enemy units, bogging them down in protracted melee and forcing difficult choices for the opponent.
• Objective Holders: Disposable but numerous, they can be thrown onto objectives to claim them, even if their hold is temporary, ensuring the World Eaters maintain tactical advantage.
• Generating Blood Tithe: Every enemy they kill, and every Jakal that dies in the name of Khorne, contributes to the World Eaters' precious 'Blood Tithe' points, which can be spent on powerful Khornate blessings and strategies that affect the entire army.
