The Victrix Honour Guard, often simply called the Victrix Guard, is an elite and highly prestigious formation within the Ultramarines Chapter. They are more than just bodyguards; they are hand-picked exemplars of the Ultramarines' ideals, serving as Primarch Roboute Guilliman's personal protectors, diplomatic envoys, and tactical vanguard.

Origins and Formation: The Victrix Guard's origins trace back to the critical period around 999.M41, following the resurrection of Roboute Guilliman. Initially, they were an ad hoc unit, hastily assembled by the newly awakened Primarch to escort him on his arduous Terran Crusade back to Terra. Recognizing their unparalleled qualities, Chapter Master Marneus Calgar later officially instituted them as a permanent Ultramarines honour guard.

Membership in the Victrix Guard is exclusive. Candidates must first have served with distinction in the standard Ultramarines Honour Guard, proving their courage and skill. However, Guilliman himself personally selects the final members, seeking out Space Marines who display exemplary selflessness, prioritize the Chapter's victory above personal glory, and possess not only martial prowess but also considerable skills in statecraft and diplomacy.

Role and Duties: The Victrix Honour Guard performs a multi-faceted and crucial role:

• Personal Bodyguards: Their foremost duty is to act as personal bodyguards for Roboute Guilliman, Marneus Calgar, or other high-ranking Ultramarines leaders. They form an unbreakable shield around their charges, forged through countless shared battles and an unyielding commitment to their protection.
• Diplomatic Envoys: Reflecting their selection criteria, they also serve as diplomatic envoys, capable of representing the Ultramarines and the wider Imperium in sensitive negotiations and interactions with other factions or Imperial organizations.
• Vanguard and Commanders' Escort: During campaigns like the War of Beasts, they often act as a tactical vanguard, accompanying commanders directly into the fray and ensuring their safe passage and strategic effectiveness.
• Composition: The Guard now comprises both Firstborn and Primaris Marines, embodying the unity and strength of the Chapter in the Era Indomitus.
• Equipment: They wield potent relic weapons, such as the "Acts of Ultramar" (said to be forged from orbs found beneath the Tyranid-ravaged world of Prandium), and are clad in the finest artificer armor, reflecting their exalted status.

The Victrix Honour Guard embodies the very essence of Ultramarines ideals. They are prepared to lay down their lives anonymously to ensure victory for their leaders and the Imperium, standing as a living testament to the Chapter's unwavering loyalty, discipline, and dedication to duty.
