In the lore of the Thousand Sons, particularly before and during the Horus Heresy, the Sekhmet Coven was the designation for the Legion's most powerful and psychically gifted warriors, who often served as the commanders of its formidable Terminator arm.

Here's a breakdown:

Pre-Heresy Elite: Before the devastating events of the Horus Heresy and the infamous Rubric of Ahriman, the Sekhmet Coven comprised the cream of the Thousand Sons' battle-brothers. These were individuals of immense psychic talent and martial prowess, often Chapter Masters or the most trusted advisors and bodyguards of Magnus the Red himself. They were paragons of the Legion's blend of psychic might and martial discipline.

The Original Scarab Occult: The warriors of the Sekhmet Coven were typically clad in the venerable and heavily armored Cataphractii Terminator plate. This cadre of elite Terminators was known as the Scarab Occult. They were not just heavily armored shock troops; they were potent psykers, capable of weaving warp energies into their attacks and defenses.

The Rubric's Tragic Legacy: When Ahriman cast the Rubric to save the Thousand Sons from the Flesh Change, it had unforeseen and catastrophic consequences. While it stabilized the mutations, it turned all but the most powerful psykers (and those who were specifically shielded, like Ahriman's own chosen) into mindless dust, trapped forever within their power armour.

The Scarab Occult Terminators of M41: The Sekhmet Coven, and particularly the Scarab Occult, suffered this fate. In the 41st Millennium, the Scarab Occult Terminators that we see on the tabletop are those very same Sekhmet warriors, now empty suits of animated dust, their psychic presence a mere echo of their former glory, yet still incredibly potent due to the residual psychic energy imbued within their armor and weapons.

Characteristics of the Sekhmet (Scarabs Occult Terminators)

• Unrivaled Durability: Clad in ancient Cataphractii Terminator armour, they are incredibly tough, boasting a 2+ Save and often a 4+ Invulnerable Save, making them very difficult to remove from the battlefield.
• Inferno Weapons: Their standard armament, the Inferno Combi-bolter, is a cut above a normal bolter. It typically has enhanced AP, reflecting its psychic charge, allowing it to shred through even moderately armored foes.
• Soulreaper Cannons & Hellfyre Missile Racks: They can also be armed with heavier weapons like the devastating Soulreaper Cannon (a multi-shot heavy weapon) or a Hellfyre Missile Rack (for anti-infantry or anti-tank versatility).
• Aura of Protection/Command: In the game, Scarab Occult Terminators often have rules that allow them to protect nearby Thousand Sons Characters (acting as bodyguards) or boost their own attacks. They exemplify the stoic, unwavering advance of the Legion.
• Deep Strike: As Terminators, they possess the ability to Deep Strike, allowing them to appear anywhere on the battlefield to seize objectives or unleash a torrent of warp-infused firepower.
• Psychic Attacks: While the marines themselves are dust, their weapons are still imbued with psychic energy. Their melee attacks are usually powerful, often with a good Strength and AP, and their ranged weapons benefit from the "Inferno" rule.
