The curse of the Destroyers stems from an enhanced capacity for thought that, paradoxically, made them acutely aware of what they had lost: their organic flesh bodies. This stark realization, combined with their transition into cold, unfeeling metal forms, bred a profound corruption. This corruption manifested as the Destroyer curse: an all-consuming, rage-fueled obsession with the eradication of all life, and often, all non-Destroyer Necrons as well.

Nature and Role in Combat: Ophydian Destroyers stand apart from the disciplined phalanxes of loyal Necrons. Due to their madness, they answer to no authority, acting as brutal shock troops that are unleashed rather than commanded by Necron nobility. Their primary tactic involves tunneling beneath enemy encampments. They then violently claw and pull themselves from underground to eviscerate their unsuspecting targets, striking from unexpected angles.

Distinctive Morphology and Combat Style: The Ophydians possess a unique and unsettling segmented, worm-like morphology. While their serpentine tails might appear animalistic and even insulting to their former organic forms, they are functionally crucial for their rapid and efficient underground movement.
