GAME : Warhammer 40K
In the festering heart of the Death Guard's Grand Companies marches Typhus, the Herald of the Plague God. Once known as Calas Typhon, First Captain of the XIV Legion and a close confidant of Mortarion, his ambition and insidious corruption long predated the Horus Heresy itself. He was the catalyst that truly damned the Death Guard, deliberately guiding their fleet into the Warp, where they were besieged by Nurgle's most potent diseases and ultimately transformed into the grotesque Apostles of Decay they are today.
The Architect of Damnation: Typhon's treachery runs deep. He was the secret architect of the Death Guard's fall, having made dark pacts with the Daemon Primarch Mortarion's oldest enemy – Nurgle. While Mortarion sought power to escape the Emperor's perceived tyranny, Typhon embraced the Ruinous Powers with open arms, seeing in Nurgle's gifts not damnation, but ultimate power and a twisted form of immortality. It was his ritualistic sacrifice of the fleet's Navigators that stranded the Death Guard in the Warp, condemning them to the agonizing transformation that gave birth to the Death Guard we know.
Appearance & Armaments: Typhus is a towering and horrifying sight. Clad in ancient, corrupted Terminator Armour, fused with the cancerous mutations of Nurgle's blessings, he is a walking pestilence. His armour is pitted, scarred, and constantly oozing foul fluids, adorned with the symbols of Nurgle and the trophies of countless deaths.
His most iconic features include:
- The Manreaper: A colossal, daemon-infused scythe, once Mortarion's own weapon, gifted to Typhon. Its blade glows with sickly green energy, spreading plague and despair with every swing, capable of severing the soul as well as the flesh.
- The Destroyer Hive: Perhaps his most feared attribute. Within his very armour resides the Destroyer Hive – a teeming, sentient swarm of Nurgle's most virulent daemonic gnats, known as Poxwalkers. These tiny daemons infest his body, constantly buzzing and emerging from rents in his armour, eager to spread contagion and feast upon the dying. They are a constant, living testament to his status as Nurgle's chosen vector.
Role & Powers: As the Herald of the Plague God, Typhus is more than just a Chaos Lord; he is a living conduit for Nurgle's will. He leads vast companies of the Death Guard, often accompanied by hordes of Poxwalkers and Daemon Engines, spreading blight and despair across the galaxy.
- Master of the Poxwalkers: Through the Destroyer Hive, Typhus has a unique and horrific bond with the Poxwalkers. They are drawn to him, serving as his unholy retinue, overwhelming enemies with sheer numbers and the irresistible force of their putrid forms.
- Contagion Incarnate: Typhus radiates a palpable aura of disease and decay. His presence alone sickens the living, corrupting the land and inspiring fear and despair. He is a potent sorcerer, wielding the miasmic powers of Nurgle to unleash devastating plagues, curses, and debilitating contagions upon his foes.
- Relentless Champion: Utterly devoted to Nurgle, Typhus is driven by an unholy zeal to spread the Father's gifts. He is relentless, immune to pain and fear, a truly unstoppable force of entropy and rot.
