Possessed are not merely Space Marines wearing daemon-infused armour, nor are they fully ascended Daemon Princes. They are a horrifying halfway point: a living, breathing, and often screaming union of a powerful Chaos Space Marine and a lesser daemon, forcibly bound together in a gruesome ritual.

• The Pact: The process begins when a Chaos Space Marine (or, rarely, a cultist of exceptional devotion) seeks to gain immense power directly from the Ruinous Powers. Through dark rituals, blasphemous pacts, and often great sacrifices, a daemon is summoned.
• The Fusion: The daemon's essence is then brutally forced into the Space Marine's body, tearing apart the genetic purity of the Astartes and merging it with the raw, chaotic energy of the Warp. This is an incredibly painful and traumatic process, often leading to madness for the host.
• The "Blessing": To the Chaos Gods, this is a great "blessing" or "gift," a testament to the host's devotion and the daemon's power. To the outside observer, it is nothing short of a monstrous debasement.
• Internal Strife: The host's consciousness often remains, eternally struggling (or sometimes in perverse unity) with the invading daemon. This internal conflict is a constant source of torment and unpredictable rage, though some Possessed achieve a terrifying symbiosis.

Possessed are visually distinct and utterly horrifying:

• Grotesque Fusion: Their power armour and flesh have merged into a single, chitinous, and constantly shifting mass. Spikes, blades, and bone spurs erupt from their ceramite.
• Daemonic Mutations: They are covered in an array of ever-changing mutations: reptilian claws, whipping tentacles, extra limbs, fangs, glowing eyes, pulsating organs, or mouths filled with needle-like teeth.
• Warp-Infused: Their skin might shimmer with unnatural colours, their voices rumble with multiple inflections, and their bodies often crackle with ambient Warp energy. They no longer wield conventional weapons; their very form is their weapon.
• Terrifying Visage: The sight of a Possessed is enough to break the morale of lesser foes, a testament to the raw, untamed power of Chaos made manifest.
  
  
• Raw Ferocity: Possessed are unleashed bundles of daemonic fury. They charge into battle with utter disregard for their own safety, driven by the daemon's bloodlust and the host's twisted zeal.
• Supernatural Strength and Resilience: Their daemonic half grants them immense physical power, allowing them to tear through foes and rip apart vehicles with ease. They are incredibly resilient, shrugging off wounds that would fell a normal Space Marine, their daemonic vitality closing gashes and knitting bone.
• Unpredictable Attacks: Due to their constantly shifting forms and the daemon's nature, their attacks are often varied and devastating, manifesting as blasts of Warp fire, rending claws, or crushing blows.
• Immunity to Fear: They are utterly fearless, driven by a primal rage that obliterates any sense of self-preservation.

Possessed are shock assault troops, designed to break enemy lines and sow terror.

• Close Combat Powerhouses: Their primary role is to get into close combat as quickly as possible and unleash their terrifying might. They excel at slaughtering infantry, especially elite units, and can even threaten light vehicles or monstrous creatures.
• Line Breakers: They are often deployed as a spearhead, punching through the strongest points of an enemy's defence with their sheer destructive force and resilience.
• Psychological Warfare: Their horrific appearance and unnatural strength cause fear and panic among Imperial forces, softening them up for subsequent attacks.
• Uncontrolled Fury: While immensely powerful, they can be difficult to control, driven by instinct and daemonic hunger rather than precise tactics.
