Primary Role and Doctrine:

• Support for Attrition: Krieg warfare is about wearing the enemy down through relentless pressure and overwhelming firepower. Artillery is the linchpin of this strategy, systematically destroying enemy positions, suppressing movement, and preparing the ground for infantry assaults.
• Indirect Fire: Their main function is to deliver heavy shells from long ranges, often from well-established and fortified positions behind the front lines.
• Preparation and Suppression: Artillery barrages are used to "prep" enemy lines before an infantry advance, or to provide continuous suppressive fire to pin down foes and deny them crucial ground.
• Counter-Battery Fire: They are also vital for engaging enemy artillery positions, silencing opposing guns, and protecting friendly forces from incoming fire.

Types of Artillery Operated by Krieg:

The Death Korps utilize a wide array of Imperial artillery, often fielding them in vast batteries to achieve truly devastating effects.

1. Heavy Mortars:

3. Griffin Heavy Mortar Platform:

4. Colossus Siege Mortar:

5. Medusa Siege Gun:

   • Role: Similar to the Colossus in its siege role, the Medusa fires powerful demolisher shells. It can often also fire direct, making it a powerful close-support weapon.
   • Krieg Use: For breaking through hardened positions, the Medusa provides focused, high-impact fire, often deployed in tandem with other artillery to soften up targets.

Crew and Operation:

• Disciplined and Methodical: Krieg artillery crews are highly disciplined and operate with machine-like precision. Every member knows their role, and the guns are loaded, aimed, and fired with unwavering efficiency.
• Stoic Endurance: They are expected to endure constant counter-battery fire, enemy deep strikes, or even direct assault without faltering. A Krieg artillery crew will continue to fire their guns until they are physically incapable or wiped out.
• Fortified Positions: Artillery pieces are almost always deployed within carefully constructed, fortified emplacements, often dug deep into the ground to protect the crews and the sensitive equipment.
• Anonymous Faces: Clad in their gas masks and greatcoats, the crews are indistinguishable, reinforcing the idea that they are merely cogs in the vast war machine, their individuality subsumed by their duty to the Emperor.
