Origin & Name: This particular Tyranid bioform gained its infamous name from its devastating appearance during the Battle of Mortrex, a world that was utterly consumed and its population transformed into living incubators for Ripper swarms. The creatures were so prevalent and effective that the Imperium officially designated the strain after that ill-fated planet.

Appearance & Biology: The Parasite of Mortrex is a mid-sized Tyranid creature, roughly the size of a Warrior or Lictor, but uniquely adapted for aerial assault and biological weapon delivery:

• Wings: Its most prominent feature is a pair of leathery, bat-like wings that allow it incredible speed and maneuverability in the air. These wings are often veined with chitinous structures and can beat with a furious, buzzing sound.
• Ovipositor: This is its most terrifying biological weapon. Extending from its abdomen is a long, needle-like ovipositor, akin to that of a giant wasp or ichneumon fly. This barbed, hollow tube is designed for piercing flesh and injecting its deadly payload.
• Scything Talons: While its ovipositor is its signature weapon, the Parasite also possesses formidable scything talons, capable of tearing and rending in close combat.
• Chitinous Plates: Its body is protected by a sleek, aerodynamic carapace, offering some defense against enemy fire.
